I hope you had a chance to recharge this summer.
A lot has happened since our Forecast Dinner back in June! The economic news cycle keeps delivering twists and turns: while Quebec heads to the polls on October 5, the Canada–U.S. tariff battle has flared up again, the first Investment Summit took place, and Canada is preparing to table its federal budget. The decisions that come out of these events will no doubt shape our community's thinking on investment, competitiveness, and the evolution of the Canadian economy.
Stock markets, meanwhile, continue to navigate tariff uncertainty, interest rate expectations, and the excitement — along with the concerns — surrounding artificial intelligence. In short, plenty to keep investment professionals on their toes!
The CFA Montréal team spent the summer preparing a few new things for you.
You'll notice that our team now supports you in recording your PL credits with CFA Institute, making it easier to track your continuing professional development — a goal we're all committed to.
Among the recent changes introduced by CFA Institute is a new Associate member category, designed to make it easier for candidates and professionals to connect with the investment community. CFA Montréal wanted to make this new option available locally as well, to broaden access to our community and our activities.
And as you may have seen through our joint campaign with CFA Québec before the summer, promoting the CFA® designation remains one of the association's top priorities. We want charterholders' expertise to get all the recognition it deserves! I've since had a chance to review the campaign's detailed results, and we have every reason to be proud of this visibility: over 1.9 million impressions, more than 10,500 clicks, and 6,000 visits to the campaign page.
Because we want to stay attuned to your real needs, which vary depending on our members' profiles, we'll be holding advisory round tables for the first time this fall, bringing together young professionals, candidates, and employers.
What comes out of these discussions will also help shape our thinking as we begin work on our next strategic plan, which will guide our actions from 2027 to 2030. As you can see, this new year is shaping up to be one of real change, always with the same goal in mind: offering you relevant, high-quality services that meet the needs you've told us about.
We can talk about it at the Members' Cocktail on October 29, if you'd like! It also comes with a small twist this year, since you can bring a guest along. And while you're there, be sure to stop by our Annual General Meeting , where we'll be electing new members to the Board.
