What led you to get involved with CFA Montréal?
Ever since I entered the field of finance—and even during my studies—I’ve always enjoyed attending the various events organized by CFA Montréal. I wanted to get involved in a different way, by helping to organize or present at these events, so I could both share my knowledge and continue learning about the finance industry. I also believe it's essential to increase the visibility of the CFA designation across the university network, so getting involved at that level was very meaningful to me.
Tell us about your role as a volunteer in this project.
I currently serve on the University Relations Committee of CFA Montréal. Since the beginning of my involvement, I’ve been responsible for maintaining the relationship with PolyFinances, the finance student committee at Polytechnique Montréal. This includes participating in events they organize, such as networking evenings, CFA Program presentations, and panel discussions on the role of engineers in the finance industry.
I also had the opportunity to help organize the last two editions of the Research Challenge. This academic competition, structured as a stock pitch , brings together students from universities across Québec.
What does your involvement with the association bring you?
The most rewarding part of my involvement has been meeting exceptional individuals, both students and professionals. I’m lucky to connect with passionate, intelligent, and curious students who teach me just as much as I teach them about the CFA Program and the industry. I also have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals who are deeply committed to strengthening Montréal’s financial community. These connections have allowed me to expand my network and gain a better understanding of the diversity of careers in our industry. Another key aspect for me is the feeling that I’m making a real impact on students’ academic and professional journeys. It’s always a privilege to support their development and answer their questions.
What have you discovered about the association through this experience?
Two things immediately come to mind. First, I’ve been struck by the level of commitment and availability of the volunteers. Despite their busy schedules and personal responsibilities, everyone finds the time to contribute, and people are always willing to step in and help. It’s truly inspiring.
Second, the collaboration between the volunteers and the permanent staff, led by our Executive Director, Jo-Ann, has really stood out to me. Their role is essential in planning and delivering all the association’s activities. Without their support, none of what CFA Montréal offers would be possible. Communication is seamless, the necessary tools are provided, and it’s a real pleasure to work with such a dedicated and professional team.
