A word from the President

Dear members and candidates,

It's with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to CFA Montreal's 2022-2023 season, which will feature a mix of in-person and virtual events. The success of our activities over the past two years has shown us just how much this flexible formula is appreciated!

Marking the grand opening of the season, we will be privileged to welcome Charles Emond, President and Chief Executive Officer, CDPQat an exclusive networking cocktail party. You'll have the opportunity to hear his views on the current business context, sustainable investment in the face of climate change, and the changing role of the investor, in the company of industry colleagues you'll have the pleasure of meeting again this fall.

Among the many autumn events, please note the dinner-conference on October 19 "Bringing about change: having the courage to intervene in the finance industry". hosting Sonya Dreizler (Choir) and Desiree Fixler (VentureESG), who will candidly share their experiences as whistleblowers, as well as the December 7 webinar " ESG regulation and disclosure: what should investors expect? "We'll also be giving you access to the expertise of Rommie Johnson (IFRS Foundation) and Chris Fidler (CFA Institute).

Consultations to serve you better

We're always keen to hear from you, and over the coming months we'll be increasing the number of opportunities we have to consult with you to find out more about your needs, ideas and suggestions. We want to hear what you have to say, so that we can guide you in the decisions that concern you. Our aim is to shape the association to meet the specific needs of our members, and to remain relevant in a constantly changing world. We are counting on you to respond in large numbers to these calls, and thank you for contributing to this continuous improvement effort.

Unique events for our CFA members

I invite you to visit our website regularly to see the events that will be added to the calendar over the coming weeks, as our programming committee continues its efforts to present you with a diversified event offering! To stay at the forefront of the innovations and trends shaping the finance and investment industry, we will continue to explore cutting-edge themes such as ESG factors, fintechs, industry norms and standards, ethics, and diversity and inclusion.

Finally, September also marks the launch of registrations for our mentoring program, as well as the start of our many activities with Montreal universities. These initiatives reflect our commitment to supporting the future leaders of our industry.

Thank you to the CFA Montréal Board of Directors and to all the volunteers who make the association's many initiatives possible.

I wish you all the best for the new school year, and look forward to talking to you again at our events!
