CFA Montreal honours Julie Ducharme and applauds her dedicated involvement in Montreal's financial and investment community

On August 24, the 10th annual Méchoui was held, organized by FIAMtl, during which CFA Montreal presented the award Woman who has distinguished herself by her outstanding involvement in the Montreal financial and investment community to Julie Ducharme, CFA. This distinction recognizes her contribution to the development of the finance professions, and more specifically the CFA designation, among the next generation of finance professionals.

A member of the CFA Montréal Board of Directors for the past 4 years, Ms. Ducharme is a wise and committed advisor. A member of the Association's Strategic Planning Committee, she has also been involved in the Mentoring Program for several years, first as program co-leader, then in pairing up dyads and often as a mentor. She is a firm believer in giving back. An avid advocate of diversity, particularly in terms of the place of women in finance, this strong-willed woman, who undoubtedly embodies the values of ethics and professionalism that are the hallmarks of the CFA brand, is a remarkable volunteer who couldn't be more committed. If you're looking for her, there's a good chance you'll come across her on a regular basis at an academic institution, whether high school, college or university, where she seizes every opportunity to share her passion with female students, inspiring them and introducing them to our profession.

"I'm grateful to be part of this community and to have been able to contribute to CFA Montréal's mission of fostering the career advancement of its members. Whether it's through the Mentoring Program or the importance our Board of Directors places on supporting our members, I've always felt I had a place where I could be myself and contribute to the enrichment of our local Association," said Ms. Ducharme.

His current vision of the finance industry, and more specifically of diversity, is very clear. "In the same way that markets evolve rapidly, the financial community must remain relevant. Leaders will have to be bold to change the face of our industry to reflect that of our customers, especially when it comes to diversity, and especially in Montreal! While 40 % of CFA candidates worldwide are women, this figure drops to 26 % in Montreal," she points out.

Enthusiastic about the next generation, she also hopes that women in the finance industry will join her in continuing to raise awareness of career opportunities in the field among female students, to ensure a diverse succession of leaders in finance.

Commenting on the award at FIAMtl's annual Méchoui, President Claude Perron said: "Julie leaves a lasting imprint on our financial community, particularly through her passion for developing young talent within the CFA Montréal Mentoring Program, of which she has been a pillar for many years. A proud ambassador of the Association's mission and values, her tireless dedication to the advancement of women in the financial sector plays an important role in encouraging and inspiring many students to pursue careers in this field."

Julie Ducharme's high level of credibility in the finance industry has undeniably proven its worth, and on behalf of the entire CFA Montréal community, we sincerely congratulate her on this highly deserved recognition!
