Lise Estelle Brault, CFA

Lise Estelle Brault, CFA, is an Executive Director within KPMG's Strategy and Economics practice. She specializes in economic impact analysis, sectoral analysis, and public policy analysis. Moreover, she provides strategic support in economic development to companies, sectoral organizations, and government agencies.

In her practice, Lise Estelle draws on 10 years of experience in the public sector, at the Autorité des marchés financiers du Québec, where she gained a deep understanding of the regulations applicable to capital markets and the prudential supervision of financial institutions. Her team monitored the digital transformation of financial markets (covering open banking system, crypto-assets, and artificial intelligence) and advised the AMF senior management on the necessary changes to regulatory and oversight frameworks. In her role, she represented the AMF on international committees (IOSCO and GFIN) and chaired committees with representatives of federal and provincial regulators, thus gaining extensive experience in public sector dynamics, regulatory development, and federal-provincial relations. Her policy development role was combined with responsibilities for the development of the AMF’s data governance framework and the supervision of an advanced analytics laboratory, in which her team developed proofs of concept around the use of AI in support the organization's activities.

Before joining the public sector, Lise Estelle gained 10 years of experience in risk management in large asset management companies including the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and at PSP Investments. She covered credit and counterparty risk, as well as enterprise risks.

Lise Estelle holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) title and sits on the board of CFA Montreal. She also chairs the Capital Market Policy Council of the CFA Institute.

Lise Estelle holds a master's degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science where she studied finance and economics. She also has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics from the University of Montreal. In 2017, she won the Étoile montante award from the Association des femmes en finance du Québec.
