CFA Montréal announces the appointment of Sandy Poiré, CFA, as president and welcomes three new board members

Montreal, October 26, 2023. - CFA Montreal is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandy Poiré, CFA, as Chair of its Board of Directors, and the arrival of three new directors. Sandy Poiré succeeds outgoing Chairman Odrée Ducharme, CFA, who has held this position for the past two years.

With a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University's John Molson School of Business and an MBA from Queen's University, Sandy is a portfolio manager with the absolute return team in the investment division at CN since 2011. She was initially responsible for the industrial sector for the European, Asia-Pacific and emerging markets equity portfolios.

"For several years now, Sandy's visionary approach and numerous achievements with the next generation of women in finance have earned her a rapid ascent to the executive committee. As Vice-Chairman of the Board and head of the Governance Committee, she has demonstrated leadership by piloting major strategic projects that have significantly improved our practices. This makes her a wise choice to guide our Association in its evolution," noted Jo-Ann Hajdamacha, General Manager of CFA Montréal.

"I am honoured by this appointment and very enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue my efforts on the Board of Directors to further our mission. We are evolving in an industry that is undergoing constant transformation, and this requires a great deal of agility and openness to face new challenges such as the arrival of artificial intelligence and the new ways of working of Generation Z, among others. The future of the profession depends on strategic positioning within the finance community, promoting the next generation of professionals and developing the skills of our members. My priority will be to develop a new strategic plan that will support the future of the Association," declared Sandy Poiré, CFA, President of CFA Montréal.

CFA Montréal management would like to acknowledge the remarkable contribution of Odrée Ducharme, who has been with the Association for over seven years. Among other things, she has initiated landmark projects in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Under her innovative presidency, the Association carried out a major organizational transformation and won the CFA Institute's Emeritus Association of the Year award for 2023 (over 1,000 members). Odrée's involvement with CFA Montréal will continue over the next two years as outgoing president.

Three appointments to CFA Montréal Board of Directors

At its Annual General Meeting on October 25, 2023, CFA Montréal also unveiled the composition of its Board of Directors for 2023-2024. The newly elected directors are :
