This recognition marks a new milestone for the CFA program.<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;in Canada. The new rules, which come into force on 1<sup>er<\/sup>&nbsp;June 2020 will provide a framework that will enable IIROC to keep pace with the rapid evolution of industry business models and technologies, as well as the needs of Canadian investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the Regulatory Manual, the CFA program is now recognized as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For students, recent graduates and professionals pursuing a career as an investment professional, passing the CFA exam is a must.<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0Level 1 (or higher) is an alternative to the Canadian Securities Course for acquiring knowledge while meeting the basic regulatory requirements for licensing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What's more, the CFA<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0now meets IIROC's proficiency requirements for the portfolio management and retail trading registration categories, as well as for the supervisory functions of research analysts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"All over the world, holders of the CFA designation<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>&nbsp;are recognized as leading investment management professionals, and this expanded recognition reinforces their well-deserved reputation,\" said Margaret Franklin, CFA, CEO and President of CFA Institute. The CFA designation has long contributed to the importance placed on putting investors' interests first and enabling markets to perform at their best. We are excited that the benefits of the CFA designation continue to grow through our relationship with IIROC.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"By redesigning the IIROC Regulatory Manual, we have enabled investment firms and their advisors to better understand our regulations and apply them more appropriately,\" said Elsa Renzella, IIROC's Senior Vice President of Enforcement and Registration. We are pleased that this redesign will help recognize the high standards of the CFA Institute to meet proficiency requirements and simplify the registration process for those embarking on a career in investment management.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It makes sense for Canadians pursuing a career in finance or investment management to take the CFA program, as holding the CFA designation represents a distinct advantage for professionals for whom obtaining an IIROC license is critical in the long term,\" says Michael Thom, CFA, Executive Director of CFA Societies Canada. This additional recognition from IIROC offers students and professionals the choice of obtaining the accreditation that best suits their particular ambitions.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognition of the CFA Program offers benefits to various players in the placement industry, including :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CFA title holders<\/strong>\u00ae<strong>&nbsp;and CFA designation candidates<\/strong>\u00ae<strong>&nbsp;:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfainstitute.org\/programs\/cfa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CFA program<\/a>&nbsp;is recognized in 45 countries and by more than 60 regulatory bodies worldwide. Under the Regulatory Manual, IIROC is extending its recognition of the CFA Program for individual proficiency requirements that will benefit designation holders and candidates in the pursuit of their careers. Those wishing to register for the upcoming CFA exams can do so now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Employers :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employers will be able to hire and promote candidates for the CFA designation, knowing that successful completion of Level 1 of the CFA Program meets many of the individual competency requirements determined by IIROC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holders of the CFA designation add value for employers because of the in-depth knowledge and experience they have acquired through the rigorous CFA Program. Each level of the CFA Program requires more than 300 hours of study.
