Tamara Close, CFA

Tamara brings more than 25 years of combined experience in capital markets and ESG strategy. She is currently Senior Director, ESG Advisory for the Petra Funds Group, where she advises fund managers and institutional investors on ESG strategy. She was previously the Founder and Managing Partner of Close Group Consulting, a global boutique ESG strategy and due diligence advisory firm for financial and capital markets. Prior to that, she spent over 10 years in senior leadership roles at PSP Investments in the public markets investment and risk management groups. Tamara started her career in front office investment management positions for the Bank of Montreal and Credit Lyonnais in the global derivatives and foreign exchange markets, and was the head of research and risk for Structured Asset Management, a fixed income asset management firm in Montreal.



Tamara is an experienced Board director for privately held and publicly traded firms. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification, and was nominated to the Global ESG Technical Committee for CFA Institute. She is a member of the Investment Committee for the JGH Foundation as well as a Board director for EvoVest, the Concordia University Foundation, and CFA Montreal. Tamara is an advisor and contributor to PracticalESG and is a member of the advisory board for RiskThinking.ai. Tamara is a regular contributor to industry journals and author of thought leadership on ESG, risk management and sustainable investing and is a sought after speaker. She earned a Bachelor’s in Economics from McGill University and a Master of Science degree in Finance from the John Molson School of Business. She is based in Montreal and is fluent in English and French.
